It’s a tough world out there for printer makers. Everyone has a printer and not everyone wants managed print services, says Lexmark’s director of global channel marketing Brian Henderson in an interview for Channelnomics. In order to stimulate growth in this very mature market, the US company is betting on three priorities: new models, new functionalities, and, unavoidably, managed print services.
Lexmark recently introduced a whole new generation of A4 color laser printers plus a lineup of seven new models in the multifunctionals line. The company is also offering solutions for reducing waste and reducing the areas in which print can be a problem, in order to deliver better business outcomes for clients.
In managed print services, the company has identified a certain degree of reluctance on the part of businesses to adopt this whole new business model, which, Henderson explains, puts them in a contractual relationship with the service provider. Still, MPS has potential as businesses start realizing it could be much more cost-efficient for them.
